Today I was thinking about….courage

A hard thing to have.

Sometimes it seems impossible.

You can never go home again…is a lie in this home.

Title. Wolfe took the title from a conversation with the writer Ella Winter, who remarked to Wolfe: “Don’t you know you can’t go home again?” Wolfe then asked Winter for permission to use the phrase as the title of his book. (Wikipedia)

I don’t think I have read this book but it certainly is on my list now. I prefer my phrasing of the statement. I am not sure why You Can’t Go Home Again but I will find out.

The concept is important to me this very day. Meanwhile, it occurred to me that it is not necessarily true.

My father, thinking, I am sure, he was being wise, back in the sixties said this to me at my soon to be disastrous first wedding. I took it to heart but, oh my, the story might have turned out much differently.

Water under the bridge.

But for me, and I know there is a significant number of others who feel differently.

If you find yourself in an abusive relationship and finally get the strength tho leave, even decades later, come home. If you need a place to think, to decompress, without judgement or interference or advice unless sought – come home.

Everyone should have a safe place to go. Not everyone does but should.

If I had one wish for mankind it would be: have a safe place to land, to regain your footing, to heal.

Now after this day’s wisdom I am off to get that book!

Good news – got my Christmas Cards done (no not for mailing – we don’t have mailing here anymore (strike and all) but cards I can deliver – YES!!
