WHAT IF THE SOURCE OF ….

WHAT IF THE SOURCE OF WESTERN problems all stemmed from one evil? Societal restlessness, increased suicides and attempts, especially among the young, increased violent crimes, an increasingly hopelessness infused into each moment.

I wonder if we have let ourselves be duped, not unlike those of times long past who fell victim to purveyors of handy dandy things to make your life better, happier, bring you joy, ease.

You see I wonder if all our problems exist because of a collision of expectation and reality. Just like the anorexic young girl who cannot resolve her body image with that of skinny air brushed models we have been sold a load of nonsense about happiness.

That’s right. What if our expectation of happiness is not real, but an idea invented by small time scammers who made delusion a big time business.

Just like the simple country folk in the frontier days, shelling out hard earned dollars or cents (cents were so much more valuable then) to a shyster convincing them that the purchase of a bottle of mysterious happy juice would make your life, heart, or soul better, we began, decades ago buying up and into nonsense that life was all about being happy.

By the way the purveyors of this nonsense, who kept saying, look at me, how happy I am, You can be happy just like me, were indeed happy as society shelled out billions of dollars in books, on courses, in classes, advertising. At least they appeared that way externally, though I suspect their inner souls were just as bleak as any.

In the sixties the cry was, I am trying to find myself. Who am I?

Then along came the big roll out. Meditation, examination, imagination, any ATION, and all you had to do were pay. Happiness became a product. Buy this, be happy. Happiness in a bottle, a pill, a house, a car, a dress,……Or the most dangerous, Buy This Book, Idea Psychobabble told us imagine, visualize, believe, and it will manifest. The use of the word Manifest in itself should be a crime. And for those who tried to MANIFEST and did not succeed? Well they just did not do it right. We were, and continue to this day, we are being sold a Bill of Goods. It only fills the pockets of the sellers who are scamming you me and future generations. Sure they are happy, laughing at our gullibility all the way to the bank.

Then we came to believe that we had to convince our children they are happy or rather they should be happy. That life is all about being happy. They are not allowed to fail, to feel the pain of loss and know that it is okay, a part of life that makes us stronger. And they buy our Bill of Goods and become confused, depressed, and fearful when they cannot quite grasp this feeling they should have. What is wrong with me, they say. I must be deficient.

The pursuit of the illusive HAPPINESS has gone off to a realm of ridiculousness and people, especially our young are falling apart.

What if it all could be fixed?

What if we made a society (and we can by the way) where key words became, DIGNITY, HARD WORK, DETERMINATION, PERSERVERENCE, KINDNESS, NON-JUDGEMENT, VALUE PERSISTENCE.

What if we retaught ourselves that it is okay to fail, that there is a dignity in failing and falling? That failing does not mean unworthy? What if there was honor in the struggle?

What if we let our children know that it is okay not to feel happy in any given moment?

What if the new word became Satisfaction? Not in the result but in the attempt to live a good hard working honorable life. (with heavy emphasis on the hard working) and at the end of each day to feel a satisfaction?

Life is messy, and hard, and at time so sad and lonely, and painful but there is a worth to life, a Satisfaction that must be earned.

Let’s take a huge load of our children’s minds. It’s okay to be sad, mad, even glad. Let them know LIFE IS HARD, but can be rewarding instead of setting up an illusion called Happiness. And rewards must be earned.

What if Happiness exists as a by-product of this thing called LIFE?

Naps are for Smart People

Naps are for Smart People

Raw bundles of energy learning to assimilate into life give all in laughter, running and the work of the day which may include miles of trucks on knees, bionicals that soar to mighty heights and giggling with delight when this little piggy goes to market find restful recharging in the afternoon nap.

The simplicity of giving it your all should be a more obvious lesson to those of us who transitioned from toddler to adult.  How did we miss it?  At least for most of the grown up persuasion it seems daily toils are an effort and concentration seems to be on getting through it. We utter words, axioms, as though verbalizing acknowledges the wisdom but feel forbidden to actually do it full time.  Stop and smell the roses.  Love what you do.

The back end of that last one is do what you love and is something I could never quite figure out.  For one thing not everyone could say what they love and so wander through live gritting their teeth doing something they think they do not love.

I probably could not have named one thing I loved to do in my youth.  Sure, I was a nurse to the core of me and loved it.  It was my calling.  But as a high schooler I worked every weekend and holiday and whether it was a laundry or grocery store or factory I loved it all.  For me I guess the pleasure was in the doing.

What if….we woke up tomorrow and decide to love everything we do?  Love that alarm and morning stretch, love that shower and first sip of coffee, love the action of getting dressed, love that drive or walk, love that work?

There are all kinds of songs that say be glad for what we are given.  You know it may not change the world but I bet it will change us and who knows energy may abound.

Some have a dream and belief and will reach it but for most of us ordinary folk the true pleasure of life is all around us in the most mundane things.  And yes when we earn our rest at day’s end it will be one of regeneration although I believe the whole world could use the benefits of an afternoon nap. After all some of the most brilliant people in the world grabbed a little midday shut eye, probably because in their waking hours they  gave it their all.

I Woke Up With Will Smith This Morning

I Woke Up With Will Smith This Morning

Waking up and before stirring towards a busy day I decided to start inspired. In days gone by when folk settled for the night with a routine of setting out things for the next day which may or may not include teeth in a glass, my nightly routine is to plug in the iPad and the iPhone so I am ready to roll first thing.

This morning I grabbed the pad and googled – ‘successful people’.  Among the selection was Will Smith, so snuggling down, ear phones in I listened and watched this very successful person.  I say person not actor as his success is in life not just in his craft.

Will Smith says:

I love living…it’s infectious.. and you can’t fake that.

I have a great time with my life and I want to share that.

We did not grow up believing that where we were was where we were going to be.  We grew up believing that where we were almost didn’t matter.  What mattered is that we were becoming something greater.

Your talent will fail you if you do not work hard.  You are not going to outwork me.  If you stay ready you don’t have to get ready.

I don’t want to be an icon, I want to be an idea.  I want to represent possibility.

I want the world to be better because I was here.

Plan A is you must believe.

Being realistic is the most common road to mediocrity.  Thinking of a light bulb was not realistic.  Bending metal and flying people was not realistic.

What you think is real, thoughts are real.  Thoughts, dreams, feelings are real.

There is redemptive power in making that choice.  I decide what is, who is.

Success takes obsessive focus. Be completely motivated. The person who works the hardest wins.  Learn how not to quit.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you you cannot do something.

I believe as Chris Hughs does in spiritual genetics which I got from my mother and grandmother.

I believe in happy endings.  You have got to believe you can be happily married for fifty years to be happily married for fifty years.

People ask me about racism in Hollywood.  Why would I acknowledge racism?  When you acknowledge something you give it power.

Fame may exist for some but greatness exists in all of us.

I believe in running and reading.  Running teaches you not to quit. And reading…there is no problem you have that someone else has not had and conquered and written about.

Know you can!

It works for me. Have a great day everyone!

Today – The Best Day of My Life – And it Hasn’t Happened Yet!

Today – The Best Day of My Life – And it Hasn’t Happened Yet!

Listen closely to the wind, for the answers are blowing around right in front of you today, christine. Make contact with people you haven’t heard from in a while. You will find that you can be quite productive today in situations that you least expect. Ironically, the less you plan, the more you will get accomplished. Be spontaneous in your actions. Revelations will come to you like lightening.

Yup, that’s my horoscope according to astrocenter.com
Whether you believe in the science/art/scam you have to admit this particular one is filled with such promise.

Astrology.com calls it, ‘the science of the stars”

I am so glad ‘the answers’ are blowing right around in front of me today, because I have been looking for them  everywhere for months. Up and down Hill and Dale, through drawers and cupboards, on the sea, on the land, in the air, through tangled webs amongst the grey cell matter of my cerebrum.  I have searched high and low for You Answers and today you are scheduled to blow around right in front of me.

AND I am going to be productive, ironically with little or no planning.  I tell you this is a dream come true!  AND I am going to be spontaneous in my actions.  AND revelations come like lightening!  I am so excited-this is gonna be some day!!!

I don’t claim astrology is or isn’t but I do enjoy reading astrocenter.com because it often is amusingly close.  I prefer to read it at the end of the day to see how close it was.

BUT, BUT I read it early and now am off to find previously lost answers, be productive, and revel in my revelations!!

A google.com search revealed this information and much more and Yahoo.answers provided the information below!

All of the founding fathers were Masons and astrologers. (Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, the list goes on and on)

All of the important events of the government were timed to astrology. The country was founded in Cancer, Election Day is in Scorpio, and Inauguration day used to be in Pisces until FDR (an Aquarian) changed it to Aquarius. This completed a Grand Trine in Water.

Carl Jung recognized the synchronicity, the basis of Astrology. He also said, “We are born at a given moment, in a given place, and like vintage years of wine, we have qualities of the year and the season in which we are born.”

Nancy Reagan used astrology, after the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan in 1981, to determine when the best & worst times were for the president to do everything from signing bills to foreign travel. The media made fun of Nancy Reagan at the time but, President Reagan was the first president since Jefferson elected in a year ending with “0″ that was not killed while in office.

T. S. Eliot’s epic poem The Waste Land is full of astrological references. Not only that but the four sections are named after the astrological elements, Earth, Air, Water & Fire.

The Three Wise Men were Astrologers. Some believe that they heard that the Christ child would be born at the time of a conjunction of planets – two planets appearing in the same place in the sky at the same time – that was to signal the arrival of a new age. The two planets involved in this conjunction were Jupiter and Saturn. Both planets were bright, but this wasn’t something that the average eye could notice. Even though they were trained astrologers this took The Three Wise Men some time to find Jesus in Bethlehem. (The early Roman Catholic church used astrology – represented in the 4 corners of the mitered hat and much of the symbology in cathedral buildings and windows.)

Before the advent of the pharmaceutical industry, astrology was a required course in medical school.

Here is a list of what just a few famous people have said about astrology:
Plato – Philosopher said : “Perhaps there is a pattern set up in the heavens for one who desires to see it, and having seen it, to find one in himself.”

Albert Einstein – Physicist said : “Astrology is a science in itself and contains an illuminating body of knowledge. It taught me many things and I am greatly indebted to it.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson – Poet said : “Astrology is astronomy brought down to earth and applied toward the affairs of man.”

JP Morgan – First Billionaire said : “Millionaires don’t use astrology, billionaires do.”

Sir Isaac Newton – Physicist (Said in defense of astrology, to sceptic Edmund Halley) I have studied the matter. Your sir, have not.

Robert Heinlein – Best-selling Author said : “A touchstone to determine the actual worth of an ‘intellectual’, find out how he feels about astrology.”

Hippocrates- Father of Medicine said : “A physician without the knowledge of astrology has no right to call himself a physician.”

DH Lawrence – Author said : “Who knows the power that Saturn has over us, or Venus? But it is a vital power, rippling exquisitely through us all the time.”

Louis Pasteur – Scientist said : “The controls of life are structured as forms and nuclear arrangements, in relation with the motions of the universe.”

Pythagoras – Mathematician said : “The stars in the heavens sing a music if only we had ears to hear.”

Benjamin Franklin – A Founding Father of America said : “Astrology is one of the most ancient sciences, held in high esteem of old, by the wise and the great.”

Donald Reagan – Formerly Ronald Reagan’s Chief of Staff said : “It’s common knowledge that a large percentage of Wall Street brokers use astrology.”

Manifesting …Chapter Two…

Well back to the Manifesting Journey.

I had reasoned..and we pause here to reflect my capabilities to reason..okay done with that, I had reasoned that dividing the book into chapters, of which there are fourteen, that I could read and comment on one chapter a day.

Well that was a little presumptuous on my part. The content requires a little more diligence than that. Speed reading of sorts I can do but application of principles hmmm seems perhaps a little more time consuming.

The very first page of the second chapter asked that I write down what an absolutely perfect day in my perfect life would look like, from the moment I opened my eyes in the morning until the end of the day.WITH as much detail as possible.  It seemed like a fun exercise and I settled down to do it and do it well. I made a few false starts until I found the perfect scenario.  It was realistic therefore conceivable so nose to the grindstone, or more accurately the key board I set forth.

it was fun and it took a day before I finished.  I won’t tell you my perfect day, you have to figure that one out for yourself as for each of us it is an individual quest. But it became my closet…you know the one you do as the very first task in a spring cleaning venue?  Then instead of being able to move on you just keep going back to look at the completed task just to reward yourself for an excellent job,

Well for the next few days I just kept going back to that closet you know ..the piece.  The more I read it the better I felt.  The possibility of actually achieving it rose proportionality with each reading.

In my perfect day I first awaken at six thirty am and well the next morning I awake exactly at that time. okay Houston we have lift off!

I checked on some of my favorite bloggers and my number one, “on the fringe” has such interesting information wittily done, and genuine blogs. As I perused her excellent site I read some of her previous contributions and found one in particular that caught my interest. Her source of inspiration was a book written by Stephen king about writing.  That was momentous so of course I next had to find the book for myself which I did through my IPad store,  I read it in a day and it was everything she had said it was. and easily as inspiring was the blog she did on it.  That gave hope.

I messaged her on her story absolutely touched by her message and sent her a note telling her.  She gracefully then subscribed to my site. Wow!

So now I see I shall take the journey with Manifesting at a more reasonable pace.  Jaffree and Margot certainly give one lots to think about and by George I will honor it page by page.

So the next thing to tackle is to make a list of past accomplishments. In detail again.  Their directions were to take an hour to accomplish this but  I already know this girl will take much longer…only because I have several decades to cover LOL

So the vision is not dead…I just figure it deserves the respect of proper application, which means a gentler pace.

Something new to learn..

Following the Manual

Jafree Ozwald and Margot Faher wrote a book called The Manifest Manual.  I bought the book on line since I could use a little serious manifesting and I had been receiving some tidbits by email over the last few months.

The book has fourteen chapters and I have perused the book and am now ready to read it.  I love to read but not wanting to waste my time, I read through each book quickly.  If it gets my interest then I read through again.

The book promises a lot…if you follow it exactly.  Well tomorrow I start and will post what I get from each chapter each day.  Let’s see what lies ahead!

Secret..Manifesting…and me…

Secrets and Manifesting and ….

About fourteen months ago, just before Christmas I was feeling a little lost, or down, or blah or whatever the choice word descriptions are these days.  My job of the previous few years had been challenging, but one I enjoyed until a bright – or maybe not so bright new manager convinced our company owner that he would drive us to inspiration in Recruitment by convincing her to slash all our salaries by thirty percent.  Now that had a not so surprising reaction from all affected who decided instead that we would do thirty percent less work.  Well almost all of us as one little bunny took it to heart and worked relentlessly to succeed.

Anyway having lived to the extent of my income this hit me where it hurts..namely the wallet.  And that definitely is NOT fun.  I was checking out some sales for Christmas presents, and being one woman who seems to have been born without a true shopping gene I usually drifted to a book store and latte.

The signs of my malaise were…well malaise, hopelessness about the future in general and a general internal pout that I hoped was not evident to others. For the first time in years I was also experiencing huge flare ups, or exacerbations of my old companion Fibromyalgia. So pain had settled in for a long stay.Oh and to meet my lifestyle I began to live more on credit cards and line of credit.  Perhaps a little more recklessly than necessary, but certainly in keeping with my personality.

One day in a bookstore of course I came upon The
Secret by Byrne.  Having heard some hype and general discussion on the subject I decided to purchase mostly out of curiosity.

So I settled down one Saturday morning curled up on the sofa to read. What can I say.  I was immediately glued to every word, every page. I read through all of that day and far into the night – not unusual for me when something catches my attention.  When exhaustion forced surrender to the land of nod I closed my eyes for a few short hours.
The moment my eyes opened in the morning I was immersed immediately back in the book.

After thirty six hour of this I came out a different person,  My attitude changed and I greeted each day with confident, joy and anticipation.  Outlook changed, days were brighter,  I was filled with passion.  Wow and my life changed!

That was the start and it has been a journey of awareness. And that is what this series of blogs will be about.Cause there is a whole lot more to follow.
