Bridgesburning is Comment Weary

Bridgesburning is Comment Weary

I love to read blogs and when someone takes the time to write their thoughts I love to comment. It’s an affirmation of your work.

The comment sections are driving me crazy with having to fill in so much information that has cut my commenting time way down.  Way down.  Actually the time is the same but the comments are fewer.

Jumping hoops to comment?  I know much of it is to cut down on spam but holy cow!  There are some I try to comment on and then for some reason it won’t go so I just give up.  By the time I fill in my name, email and site I have forgotten what my brilliant comment was.

Next I suppose we will have to provide photo ID to comment, or a blood test to prove we are human, or DNA at a cost of course.

I am enjoying your posts but time is of the essence.  The ideal?  Comment, hit the button and move on.

So to all of you I may not get to:

Great post!

I’m with you on that!

Wow! That’s incredible!

Really? I didn’t know that.

Great pics I love what you did with light!

You made my day!

What a lovely tribute!

Well back to commenting.  Today it was Mama Kats Prompts and I want to hit everyone but alas I won’t.  Nuts.  But y’all keep writing and I will find a way to comment!

Mostly when I don’t comment on posts it’s because I’m very tired (energywise, I mean), and at those times I can’t quite find the words to express what I want to say, so I leave it hoping I’ll find the words at another time and – unfortunately – often forget to comment at all then!

The forms that go with some blog comments can drive me mad, but the only ones I mostly avoid now are ones that have almost illegible ‘captcha’ codes (I’m a bit dsylexic and my eyesight isn’t too good either), the blogger/blogspot ones which don’t offer the name/email/website option and the various external commenting services because they show comments out of context, publically, like a social networking site and I hate that! I don’t mind sites that ask for name, email and website because what I do there is open notepad, put my email address on one line and my website below it, and I just copy and paste them into forms, it’s much simpler! :)

It is hard to get to all of the blogs on the different link ups and writing prompts and complicated comment features don’t make it any easier. Thank you for taking the time to stop by Chasing Joy :-)

WordPress keeps it simple and I’m glad people don’t have to go through hoops to post a comment on our sites. Interesting that I really don’t get much spam…touch wood. I was under the impression that WP is doing its job keeping it down to a dull roar. Either that or I don’t write enough about hot ***. (I don’t want to write the word, my friend, in case it opens the flood gate on you! :) )

Seriously, you are onto something. Maybe we should start writing the comment first and THEN fill out the forms and sign our lives away! ;)

I agree Chris. there are a couple of blogs that I really like but can never get the comment posted. There are too many hoops there. But wordpress sites are easy to comment on.
Love your posts. Do keep them coming.

I am blogging weary and as you may have noticed have not responded to your comments. So this hit the spot. You write you well, have much good to say, have a good sense of humor, so my only complaint, is your posts are great, post more of yours and comment less. I push the like buttons a lot, and comment here and there, but could spend my life and am trying to devote my self to really matters. Stay strong.
